With this being your first year in the program, the stipend schedule is as follows: After completing the January 2019 leadership conference you will receive $150.00; After completing your Internship Agreement Form you will receive $150.00; After completing your 6 week summer internship you will receive approximately $2,400.00 (again this is based on your year in the program) After completing the September 2019 conference you will receive $100.00.
We will work with you to arrange transportation to and from the Piedmont Triad for the January and September conferences. We will provide transportation to and from the hotel. You will receive travel information prior to the leadership conferences.
All program events have been scheduled around the 2018-2019 academic calendars, so there should not be any conflict with your school schedule.
You and your coach will work together to explore your interests and find an internship location based on those interests.
All summer internship experiences must take place in a qualifying rural, economically distressed and/or tobacco dependent county.
Your summer internship experience can work around your summer school schedule and can occur anytime between the months of May – August 2019.
The summer internship experience must be completed by August 9, 2019.
The stipend for a 6 week internship is approximately $2,400.00. You may continue your internship beyond the 6 week period. However, there are no additional stipend funds to cover that time. You may consider asking the internship organization to pay you beyond your stipend.
You may work summer jobs while completing your 6 week summer internship experience if you can also meet all of your internship requirements.
You may be able to start your internship prior to May 2019, if we are able to complete all of the logistics and have all of the paperwork completed.
